Alexandra Burke – Start Without You live @ T4 On The Beach – 4th July 2010

Pop/R&B princess Alexandra Burke propelled to fame after winning 2008’s The X Factor in the UK. Her winning single, “Hallelujah”, a cover of Leonard Cohen’s hit, hit #1 on the UK and Irish Singles Charts and she then took time after that to record her debut album under Syco Records, Simon Cowell’s record label. Her debut single as a proper artist was the scorching R&B stomper “Bad Boys” which featured American rapper Flo Rida and it debuted right atop the UK Singles Chart. She proved she was no one trick pony, releasing her #1 UK debut album “Overcome” and her second single “Broken Heels” which hit the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. She then released a remix of one of her album tracks “All Night Long” which now featured Pitbull. She then hit the Top 5 on the UK Singles Chart and #1 on the Irish Singles Chart. Now however, Burke is recording an American version of her UK debut “Overcome” and has released her next European single called “Start Without You”. The song is not seen on her debut and this could mean very exciting things for this young lady. Here she is performing her brand new single “Start Without You” live at T4 on the Beach! Enjoy!

Toto – Africa

(1982) Toto was formed in Los Angeles in 1978 by David Paich (b. June 21, 1954, Los Angeles; keyboards, vocals), Steve Lukather (b. October 21, 1957, Los Angeles; guitar, vocals), Bobby Kimball (b. Robert Toteaux, March 29, 1947, Vinton, LA; vocals), Steve Porcaro (b. September 2, 1957, Connecticut; keyboards), David Hungate (b. Texas; bass), and Jeff Porcaro (b. April 1, 1954, Hartford, CT; d. August 5, 1992, Hidden Hills, CA; drums). Paich was the son of arranger Marty Paich; the Porcaros were the sons of percussionist Joe Porcaro. The bandmembers had met in high school and at studio sessions in the 1970s, when they became some of the busiest session musicians in the music business. Paich, Hungate, and Jeff Porcaro wrote songs for and performed on Silk Degrees, the multi-million-selling 1976 album that combined pop, rock, and disco elements into a slick combination which heavily influenced mainstream pop music. Toto released its self-titled debut album in October 1978, and it hit the Top Ten, sold two-million copies, and spawned the gold Top Ten single “Hold the Line.” The gold-selling Hydra (October 1979) and Turn Back (January 1981) were less successful, but Toto IV (April 1982) was a multi-platinum Top Ten hit, featuring the number-one hit “Africa” and the Top Tens “Rosanna” (about Lukather’s girlfriend, movie star Rosanna Arquette) and “I Won’t Hold You Back.” At the 1982 Grammys, “Rosanna” won awards for Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, and Best

Yep…hit once. One time, in the 3rd round…against Tyson. Quite aggravating. I’ve been trying to do a no hit run for awhile now, on and off, for a few months. Been to Tyson quite a few times and failed. I decided to keep this run, even with the one hit, still a decent run. For some reason it cut off the end where it shows little mac and your win/loss record on the bottom, sorry about that. Well, enjoy.

Their music is rife with country, rockabilly, and R&B influences, a combination that produced several hit singles–most of which are present on this collection. These include “I Heard It through the Grapevine,” “Lodi,” “Up Around the B ,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” and of course “Bad Moon Rising.” This is an excellent greatest-hits collection, and a perfect introduction to the music of a band that has been enduringly influential. –Genevieve Williams

The Hickok45 Song

Steve Lee and his daughter Raechel, with help from hickok45 and bigjohn88tn, write a future gold record in just two hours at the kitchen table, “Life Is Good.” :-) Lyrics are posted below. Also, if you are a Bob Dylan fan like me, or even if you’re not, you’ll like Raechel’s new song, www.youtube.com . I’m sure you already know Steve’s classic, but if not, click on his channel in my subscriptions or on this link to his song: www.youtube.com If you’d like to see another “take” on this performance, see the last part of “Deleted Scenes II” “Life Is Good” He’s spending time with his favorite toys Just slingin’ lead and makin’ noise. All the game down here is made of steel. The bullets fly and the targets fall, But the goats and pigs don’t mind at all. Around here the Zombies are the only thing that’s real. Life is good Chorus: He shoots more ammo than he probably should His compound’s here in the Nashville neighborhood In the land of the free. Life is good He’s always shootin’ down in the woods; Wouldn’t leave here even if he could. Life is good Now he’s cooler than the real Hickok. This man shoots a Colt or a Glock. He’s never met a target he can’t hit. He loves his Lever and he loves his Bolt, A semi-auto and his .45 Colt. But most of his hits are on the Internet. Life is good [ Chorus ] So when you’re down in Tennessee Where freedom is alive And you hear shot ring from the wood, It’s Hickok 45 [Chorus]
